On Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 took place the 3rd edition of the «Panier de la rentrée» of the Fondation Rock-Guertin. Immex Société Immobilière is proud to have been the main financial partner of the event which has distributed predominantly food supplies to 215 families in need in Sherbrooke at the dawn of the new school year. The 215 families were identified by primary schools of the «Commission scolaire de la Région de Sherbrooke» (CSRS). “What we want is to reduce the budget to allow families to breathe a little and buy school supplies,” explains the Director of the foundation, Denis Fortier. Overall, the third edition of the «Panier de la rentrée» is equivalent to nearly $ 50,000 in products distributed. Logistics are also different from the annual Basket of Hope in which the Fondation Rock Guertin installs collection points across the Sherbrooke area. This time the money comes from corporate donations and funds raised at a sugar shack dinner organized in April. “Yes, there is a need in Sherbrooke, these are phones of families who started the project,” Mr. Fortier. Finally, the Foundation hopes that this initiative will further develop in the coming years and may be extended to secondary schools in the region since the aid is currently limited to the families of elementary schools in the CSRS.
